The new Verity poster has barely landed, and Reddit has already found something else to talk about: Anne Hathaway is seemingly everywhere in 2026.
Amazon MGM Studios released the official poster for Verity on August 10, putting Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett front and center ahead of the film’s October 2 theatrical release. But in the massive discussion on Reddit’s r/movies, the conversation quickly expanded beyond the poster itself.
One of the most upvoted reactions was remarkably simple: “Holy s**t Anne Hathaway is having a serious good time of films coming out.”
That comment kicked off a discussion about just how unusually packed Hathaway’s movie calendar has become this year.
Anne Hathaway Really Is Everywhere in 2026
Hathaway has already appeared in Mother Mary and The Devil Wears Prada 2 this year. She then appeared in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and now has The End of Oak Street and Verity still on her 2026 slate. People magazine recently described it as a five-film year for Hathaway, with Verity scheduled to arrive in October.

That makes the Verity poster particularly interesting because it isn’t simply another upcoming Hathaway project appearing on a crowded release calendar. It is the latest reminder that audiences are seeing the Oscar-winning actress in a remarkably wide range of films within a single year.
Her 2026 lineup has already taken her from the emotional and musical world of Mother Mary to the fashion-comedy territory of The Devil Wears Prada 2, then into Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey. Verity now brings her into a much darker psychological thriller space.

Reddit Notices the “Anne Hathaway Year”
The discussion around the new poster quickly turned into a conversation about Hathaway’s unusually busy year.
Another highly upvoted comment pointed out that Hathaway has five movies coming out in 2026, while also noting that Robert Pattinson has a similarly packed year.
Other users discussed how much Hathaway has been working over the past few years and suggested that some of the projects simply happened to reach audiences around the same time.
That last point is worth remembering.
It isn’t necessarily that Hathaway suddenly filmed five movies back-to-back in 2026. Several of these productions were completed earlier and are only now reaching theaters.
One Reddit commenter specifically noted that Mother Mary was shot around two years ago, while another suggested Hathaway had been working steadily for the past few years and the projects were finally reaching their release dates together.
‘Verity’ Gives Her a Very Different Role
The new poster also highlights just how different Verity is from some of Hathaway’s other 2026 projects.
In the film, Hathaway plays Verity Crawford, a bestselling author whose career is interrupted after an accident leaves her unable to finish her book series. Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to complete the books, while Josh Hartnett plays Verity’s husband, Jeremy. Lowen eventually discovers disturbing material that throws the Crawford family’s story into question.
That puts Hathaway in a particularly intriguing position.
Audiences who have primarily encountered her this year through the returning glamour and nostalgia of The Devil Wears Prada 2 are about to see her in a much darker story.
And Verity is not being positioned as a straightforward romantic drama. Amazon MGM describes it as a psychological thriller, with director Michael Showalter behind the camera and Nick Antosca and Colleen Hoover credited on the screenplay.
The contrast is part of what makes the Reddit reaction understandable. Hathaway isn’t simply appearing in several movies; she’s moving between very different genres and screen personas within the same calendar year.
The Poster Itself Is Getting Plenty of Attention
The poster itself sparked plenty of discussion, including reactions to its floating-head design. One highly upvoted comment compared the visual style to the “floating heads” trend in movie posters, while other users immediately connected the arrangement to Seven Nation Army and A Clockwork Orange.
Another major thread running through the discussion was the movie’s relationship with Colleen Hoover.
One highly upvoted commenter observed that the marketing appeared to be avoiding heavily emphasizing Hoover’s name and wondered whether the studio was deliberately trying to sell Verity more as a psychological thriller than as a Colleen Hoover adaptation. Another commenter suggested that the genre shift could be part of the reason for the marketing approach.
That is particularly interesting because Verity is based on Hoover’s bestselling novel, but the film’s current marketing is putting the movie’s stars and thriller identity front and center.
Hathaway’s Busy Year Isn’t Over Yet
The timing may work in Verity’s favor. By the time it arrives on October 2, audiences will have already seen Hathaway across several major 2026 releases, giving the film the benefit of landing as the next chapter in what’s become an unusually visible year for her — rather than getting lost in a crowded fall calendar.
With The End of Oak Street and Verity still ahead, 2026 isn’t finished with Hathaway yet. And judging by how a single poster turned into a thread about her entire year, neither is Reddit.
